Back in the old days, life was hard. Since the 1600's the KEY WEST seaport has been a bustling harbor where people worked hard everyday to build their lives (and an island city) on this remote coral outpost. KEY WEST has served as a vital link between the Old World and the New. It has always been a bastion of individualism and liberty, attracting the full spectrum of unique characters and colorful personalities, from buccaneers to bartenders, spongers to salty sailors. Fishing, shrimping, wrecking, crabbing, piracy and rum running all needed home ports.

There was even a turtle farm here, the "krauls." The island also housed a sizable cigar making industry and remains a home base to both the Navy and the Coast Guard. You had to be strong to get by in KEY WEST back then, back in the days when KEY WEST was en route to everywhere.

Because of the remote location, KEY WEST and its historic seaport have, to a degree, remained untouched by modern times, and proudly still possess a charming ambiance that attracts visitors from around the world. Today the seaport bustles with laughter and activity as a unique vacation destination. KEY WEST has been a legendary tropical hideaway for poets, painters, pirates and presidents; a lush Caribbean island that is part of America. There is much to experience here: festivals, a nightly celebration of stunning sunsets; walks and picnics on the beach; fabulous restaurants; house, garden and bicycle tours; water sports; fishing and shopping on and off-famous Duval Street.

Come see for yourself. KEY WEST has something for everyone; be it a family vacation, a romantic getaway for two or a corporate outing. Let us plan your next holiday.
